LACEY, Wash. — Police said a man shot his estranged wife and her mother in Lacey Monday afternoon, then took the couple’s two young children with him and sped off. He eventually shot himself after being followed by police. Cmdr. Chris Ward with the Lacey Police Department said the man went to the home and shot his wife and her mother. The wife died at the scene. The woman’s mother later died at the hospital.
BURIEN, Wash. – A 19-year-old woman was bludgeoned and sexually assaulted in the gym of her Burien apartment complex last month, causing serious injuries to her face and head. The 23-year-old man charged with her assault is also said to have grabbed a teenage girl’s buttocks and stared at girls at the pool shortly before the attack. Salvador Diaz-Garcia is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree rape and third-degree child molestation for the acts that occurred June 25.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — A Utah man killed his wife aboard an Alaska cruise and told an acquaintance who later walked into the blood-splattered cabin that he did it because she would not stop laughing at him, the FBI said in documents released Thursday. Kenneth Manzanares was found in the couple’s room on the Princess Cruises ship Tuesday night with blood on his hands and clothes and blood spread throughout the cabin, according to a criminal complaint by FBI Special Agent Michael L. Watson.
The initiative would bar funding and operation of supervised drug consumption sites in the county. Supporters of the so-called safe injection sites believe it would reduce the number of overdose deaths and connect users with needed health services. However, critics worry it will enable the use of drugs in a region facing an opioid epidemic.
SEATTLE — An investigation is underway following a set of fires that were allegedly sparked intentionally overnight in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. According to the Seattle fire department, four fires were set in a six-block area along the Burke-Gilman Trail between NW 36th St. and NW 42nd St., starting just before midnight on Monday. The fire department is working with the Seattle police department to determine a suspect in this case.
